2007 Local Elections, Vange.

Unfortunately for Vange and Basildon as a whole, I lost. I only hope that Danny Nandanwar will try and do something for the people of Vange this time round.

Danny Nandanwar The Labour and Co-operative Party 704

Luke Arron MacKenzie The Conservative Party Candidate 636

Rodney Charles Leveridge British National Party 481

This is the election Material that I stood on:

St Georges Leaflet

A3 Leaflet

  • Council housing for local people, there is a shortage of housing and it makes no sence providing council housing for people outside Basildon when people in Basildon need housing.

  • Regeneration, updating or replacing old housing with new modern buildings which are fit to live in while providing new facilities such as shops and restaurants and creating jobs for local residents.

  • Protecting Green belt, I know there is a shortage of homes, but at the same time the Labour government is encouraging record levels of immigration. The government solution to this is to concrete over most of the Southeast. The way they go about this is undemocratic, they use an unelected organisations such as English Partnerships an the East of England Regional Assembly to force projects upon elected local authorities .

  • Yes to Football, No to Travellers. The moving of Basildon football club to Terminus Drive in Pitsea is great idea. It would allow many more people to attend games as it is located nearer many more people. It will be within walking distance for the resisdants of Pitsea and Vange. This would also help with the development Gardiners Lane South, where a buisness park will be built, which can bring money and jobs to Basildon. This site is unfit for human habitation. I also wonder, it a Traveller site was located here, would we see a repeat of Crays Hill: The local school being ruined and property values falling.

  • I am against the 700,000 tonnes-a-year waste plant at Courtauld Road. I have added my name to the petition against it. If elected as Councillor for Vange, I will do all I can to stop it.

  •  As a Councillor I will work with the Police, community groups and residents to reduce crime. By speaking to all three of these, I can find out where and what the problems are and help find a solution. These may include, evicting people who insist on making the lives of their neighbors and community hell. Using the design of new housing and upgrading the design of old housing estates to reduce crime, Council grants to community groups which are running programs which keep young people occupied rather than being bored and getting in trouble.

I have grown up in Basildon. My goal as a local Councillor is to make a differance. I want to feel safe walking down the street. I want to be able to play football with my friends down the park and not see these greens spaces disappear due to Labour plans to build everywhere. I beleive the best party to this is the Conservative Party
